About Me

Peter MacDonald is a Canadian from Ottawa, ON who is approaching his mid-thirties, with Bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science and English Lit and a Master’s degree in literature, and a passion for geeky media of all varieties. He writes reviews and retrospectives about comics, cartoons, TV shows, video games, and so on. He is now going to abandon the pretense that he got someone else to write his biography for him, and stop using third-person pronouns as if it was fooling anybody.

I like to focus on the technical details of what makes a story or experience work (or not work), and I always take my subject matter seriously, even if it doesn’t necessarily take itself seriously. That doesn’t mean mindless fun is verboten, but rather that even the most mindless of fun can offer insight for us – even if it’s only insight into what makes it so fun. I try to write from a socially-conscious perspective, and try to recognize and criticism sexism, homophobia, racism, etc. in what I review and write about. That being said, I am a straight, cis-gendered, white Canadian man from a middle-class background, so I’m sure I will, at some point, goof on this. When that day comes, I hope my readers will be gentle in their criticism of me, and that I will have the presence of mind to take that criticism gracefully.

The blog’s title comes from the fact that, although I’m much too young to actually be an old man shouting at clouds, I often feel that way when confronted by fandom shenanigans, and pretty much always have.
